When I began this drawing class I had no idea what to expect. Having drawn the human figure very few times in the past I didn’t exactly know what I was doing or where to even begin. I guess when it comes to drawing it’s not exactly about knowing what your are doing, but knowing what to look for. Throughout these three 30minute drawings it becomes more evident that I started to realize what to look for.
The first drawing appears finished, but distorted. The angle of the models upper body was simple enough that I was able to get the twist of the spine, and the rest of the upper body, but the accuracy did not travel to the legs. This is a perfect example of not knowing what to look for or where to start. This drawing was based on what I was seeing. The problem in the first that I came to find with the second and third drawing is it is the internal structure that gives a body its form.
From there on we started each class with axis drawings starting with the interior bones and working our way out. I have realized that this is a much more effective and accurate way to start drawing the human form.
